Looking Back.

Up late last night. Had a New Year's Eve party. Our Sunday School class came over. Friends. Food. Fun. A great way to bring in 2010. But today, I plan to look back. You know, take a trip down 2009 Memory Lane. Think about lessons learned. Blessings received. Mistakes made. However, I won't dwell on the negative. Because I made progress. I determined that 2009 would be the year that I started facing some of my fears. And they were plentiful. I faced my fear of running in a race. Ran my first 5K in January. Loved it. And have run several races since including an 8K. I hope to run a half marathon in the spring. I faced my fear of being a failure at writing. Stepped out in faith and began blogging. Now, that may seem like a baby step to you, but it was a big deal for me. I asked myself. Can I really write? Or am I just dreaming? Will anyone read what I write? Will they like me? Sounds like I was just a bit paranoid. I was. And then you came along. Generously giving feedback. Always encouraging. Always understanding. You changed me. Helped me to have some self-confidence. And you have prayed for me. Thank you. For everything. I appreciate that you take the time to come into my world. I consider you as a friend. Maybe it sounds wacky. Even weird to say that about someone I've never met face-to-face. But that's how I feel. The following verse is my prayer for you as we begin the coming year: You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance. (Psalm 65:11). As we enter 2010, may you experience God's grace and goodness. May each step that you take be blessed abundantly. I look forward to what God is going to do in this new year. Thanks for looking back with me, friend. Sweet dreams, Deb

  9. I, too, have pondered a lot regarding my last year; seems to have spent so quickly and with seemingly little to show for it all, although I know that's not true.

God's goodness and abundance; indeed, I have known it in lavish measure in the past year, and am certain he remains faithful to portion out more in the year to come.

Thank you for being in my life and for calling me from time to time. Your heart always encourages mine.

  12. Hi there! I was at Bonita's blog and she had a link to this post.

    What a wonderful idea!

I'm going to go check out 2009 before 2010 gets any further along.

I've been trying to think of a Bible verse, a saying from God or even a word from Him to keep in my mind for 2010. (a great idea I got from Bonita). Perhaps recapping 2009 will help.

Nice to meet you and have a Happy New Year!

P.S. I know what you mean about meeting friends through blogging...it is true.

  14. Thanks for stopping by and introducing yourself. I just want to give you a little background about me...the reason I said I fell in love this year it was not permanent (although I will never, ever forget the feelings or the man) and he was married. I come from a father who molested me from the ages of 2 - 13 and just recently God started revealing memories of that to me in 2005 so the idea of me being able to feel love feelings for a man was and still is out of the question. So this year when I had twinges of that it totally knocked me for a loop and I still am weirded out about the real deal but God knows when that is suppose to happen so I trust Him. I just wanted to let you know that the man isn't still in my life; and I also wanted to let you know a little bit about myself...thanks for letting me share and thanks for your wonderful blog ;=O)

I love the verse you quoted.

  17. Deb, you have been a blessing to me this year. I have tried to figure out a post to summarize the year - I can only liken it to the children of Israel who left all they knew - and ended up in the desert awhile - which was part of the journey - but they ended up staying quite a while. It has been a year where my faith in God's plan - faith that is is a good plan - the substance of things hoped for not seen - has been what has carried me through - and laborers like you that He has so graciously sent to lift me up when I am down, to provide a word - spiritual sustenance to strengthen me for this journey that is still in a desert. You have constantly blessed me with your kind comments, blessed me by sharing what God has put on your heart - messages that I needed. I do not know where I would have been the second half of this year, without Godly women like you!

Thank you for NEVER giving up!
